You can immediately tell you are in a happy place the minute you walk in the front doors of the Three Dog Bakery in Southlake, Texas. Whether it is a customer's first time or a regular visitor, the bakery staff greets each customer as if they are best friends. Christy and Brad Howard, dog lovers themselves with five English Mastiffs (Dozer, Daisy, Diesel, Danica, and Duchess); operate the Southlake, Texas store. You will see photos of the happy family behind the counter and you may even receive a warm greeting by one or more of the gorgeous Mastiffs when you visit.

Mutt Mixer

The Mutt Mixer, one of the best events in the metroplex takes place the second and fourth Thursday of each month at the Three Dog Bakery.  Each mixer brings in approximately 20 to 30 people with one or more dogs each. All dog breeds are fairly represented at the mixers. It is common to see Kodi, a 210-pound English Mastiff alongside Precious, a tiny Pomeranian mingling with dogs of all sizes, breeds and personalities -- all get along beautifully. Each Mutt Mixer is complete with a generous distribution of fresh baked gourmet dog treats for the doggy guests while the pooch parents are treated to a delicious meal complete with beer, wine, soft drinks, dessert, friendly conversation and many laughs.

Many of the customer's have become part of the bakery staff. One such customer, Kate Grigal, a former Senior Director of Advertising as well as a trained culinary artist, found herself unemployed last fall. Kate is now doing marketing for the bakery and utilizes her culinary training to create fabulous food for the bakery's Mutt Mixers. Kate jokingly says that this is the year her dogs saved her. She says that throughout it all, she still has her dogs and instead of sitting at home feeling sorry for herself, she gets out to socialize with other people at the dog park and other dog friendly events.

Christy and her team are in the process of putting together a customer-sponsored calendar featuring customers' dogs.  The Gittings Photography studio of Fort Worth will donate the pet photograhy for the calendar.  The proceeds from the calendar sales will go to the Gracie Foundation, a non-profit with the mission of providing financial assistance to other non-profit dog rescue groups.  Contact Christy or her staff at the store for more information on the calendar project.

You know a business is doing something right when it is thriving and experiencing incremental growth during a down economy.  WIth a multi-unit agreement for the Dallas/Fort Worth area, the next location should be coming soon.

Christy credits her staff with much of their success. The dedication to creating high quality, all natural, human grade doggy treats is a key ingredient to Three Dog Bakery success across the country.

The store is located at 1251 E. Southlake Blvd. Suite 323, Southlake, TX 76092
