Three deer break into Maryland school to escape from dogs

Authorities in Lothian originally thought they were responding to a robbery attempt at the Southern Middle School on Monday night, but a surveillance video revealed three deer breaking through the glass doors in fright reported wbaltv.com.

About 4:00 a.m. police responded to the call and found three deer inside of the school. The video revealed two dogs jumping through the broken glass chasing the deer.

Authorities believe the two dogs, a German shepherd and Labrador retriever scared the wild life who were desperately trying to escape when they broke through the glass in an absolute panic.

The school was closed on Monday and expected to reopen on Tuesday.

The deer either died or were so injured they were humanely euthanized.

The dogs are now in the custody of Animal Control. Their owners have not been identified.

And here is yet another good reason not to let dogs roam free.
