On July 9, Clay's Park Resort in North Lawrence, Ohio, hosted the Rock the Resort festival. Following excellent sets from Curse Icon, Saving Abel and My Darkest Days, Three Days Grace took the stage to thunderous applause.
They started out on a fast pace with The Good Life and Break, both off of their last album Life Starts Now. Frontman Adam Gontier kept the crowd engaged through a multi-faceted set, which included the big hits, the ballad Last to Know, a solo cover of Tom Petty's Free Fallin' by Gontier and a fabulous drum solo from Neil Sanderson.
The venue had a "no profanity" policy, which the band eventually broke. Gontier got the crowd screaming "F*ck you," and special guest Shawn Hamm let loose on their cover of Limp Bizkit's Break Stuff. And of course the crowd favorite Riot isn't profanity-free. The band's overall performance was so captivating that hardly anyone noticed the transgressions. The frenetic crowd simply ate up the whole hour and a half set.
Three Days Grace was the perfect end to a beautiful, musical day. They continue touring on some festival dates through the summer before jumping on the Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Tour with Avenged Sevenfold in August.
