A cat and dog fell to their death from the same balcony on the 43rd floor of a Chicago high-rise. Three days apart.
Last week, police were called to the building where the dog was found. The man who lives there calls their deaths tragic accidents, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
The 26-year-old man reported that his mother, sister and stepfather were visiting him from Florida, and brought their dog, named Duke. He claims his two cats were on the balcony when the dog scared them through the glass door, and one cat fell over the edge.
Three days later, Duke also went over the balcony. Moving boxes and chairs out on the balcony may have acted as a ladder for the dog, the man believes.
He said his stepdad “couldn’t even hardly talk. He put this dog almost as high up as my mom and my little sister.”
Police believe it was an accident but they’re continuing to do an investigation.
