Not a sports fan? Sunday's concert calendar is not as packed as the last several days' have been, but there are three low-dough shows that are well worth the trip out into the cold on Super Bowl Sunday.
Des Moines blues/soul group Bella Soul will play at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden on Sunday afternoon as part of the Botanical Blues concert series. The performance will run from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, and $3 for kids and includes access to the botanical center. Food will be available for purchase at the facility's new cafe, Trellis.
Zach Svoboda will be performing at Summerset Winery in Indianola as part of their weekly Sunday Tunes concert series. The Christian/pop/rock acoustic singer/guitarist will play from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $3 per person or $10 per carload. Wine, pop, and beer are available for purchase, and you can bring your own snacks or purchase them there as well.
Finally, cap off your night by helping Cody Osen, founder of Iowa Concert Photographers, celebrate his birthday at Vaudeville Mews in Des Moines. The birthday party will feature performances by Des Moines alternative/pop group Annalibera, gypsy psychedelic disco act Mr. Nasti, and Fairfield electo-pop dance duo Trouble Lights. DJ Christmas Vacation will wrap up the night with a dance party. The doors open at 9:30 p.m., and the music will kick off at 10 p.m. There will be a $5 cover, and you must be 21 or older to attend.
