Three seventh grade students are facing weapons charges in connection with a BB gun (pistol) that was found in a drawer at the Cedartown Middle School Wednesday afternoon.

According to officials, one student brought the weapon to school and later gave it to another student who hid the weapon in his backpack before handing it over to yet another student who finally hid the weapon in a drawer in the science lab where it was later discovered during the last class period.

The names of the three students have not been released due to their ages. Each of the three students are charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds. The students will attend alternative school for the remainder of the school year.

Some parents reported that they did receive a call from the school informing them of the discovery while other parents stated that they were not contacted.

Polk School District Superintendent Dr. William Hunter had no reply regarding what time the gun was found and how soon were parents notified afterwards.
