Three 6 Mafia hip-hop artist Ricky “Lord Infamous” Dunigan has found dead by his mother. He was sitting at her kitchen table when she found him. Three 6 Mafia, which is based out of Memphis, was the first hip-hop group to win an Oscar, according to the Chicago Tribune on Dec. 24.
Dunigan was with his girlfriend when he said he just wanted to get some sleep, the girlfriend asked him if he was O.K. and he assured her that he was, he was just tired. He put his head down on his arms at the kitchen table like he was just catching some shut-eye.
A little while later Dunigan’s mother came home and found her son sitting in the same position, but he wouldn’t wake up, he had passed away. Dunigan's uncle, DJ Paul, who formed Three 6 Mafia with Dunigan said “When his mama came home, he was sitting at the kitchen table passed away.”
Dunigan had suffered both a stroke and a heart attack in 2010 and DJ Paul reports that the 40-year-old “Lord Infamous” died after having a “heart attack in his sleep.”
Three 6 Mafia hit the scene in the 1990s with songs like “Stay High” and “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp.” The hip-hop group won an Oscar for “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp,” for the Best Original Song from a Movie category. The song appeared in the movie “Hustle and Flow.”
