It is one of the biggest annual fall festivals done in the area. Bensalem Twp.closes it's entire municipal complex, and transforms it into a circus, for a day. It was held yesterday,October 5 2013 There are carnival rides, police exhibits by K-9 and motorcycle shows. A large area is reserved for vendors . There was a concert and not by a local no name band, but by international recording artists the Trammps and Harold Melvin and his Bluenotes.. Then there were fireworks.
The Trammps, best known for Disco Inferno, played a short 45 minute set, which included all of their hits, such as "Hold back the Night" in which the band gave the mic to those in the crowd to sing key parts of the song. When they did Disco Inferno, they invited the audience on stage with them. How many times does that happen? When they did "Shout", kids were invited on stage.
There were food vendors to keep everyone fed. A lot of times , at a festival vendors gouge the customers with $4.00 sodas and outrageous food prices. Not here. Everything was reasonable, sodas were about $1.00 and most of the food was priced under $10.00, One piece of advice to Outback, pick a better quality of meat for the Prime Rib sandwich. Most folks do not want fatty beef. Otherwise is was fine.
The biggest draw in the morning are the vendors, where people spend hours walking around getting free things. Some folks were lining up as early as 8:00 a.m. to get in. A word to the wise to vendors. Some of them had a wheel to spin. Whatever it landed on is the prize you got. People are not going to be satisfied with waiting in line for a pen. If it lands on a blank space, the person gets nothing. You don't hear the comments made about you as the customer walks away with nothing. Other vendors were right on target, giving away laundry detergent, scratch pads, computer connectors and other things need around a house. No wonder the line up started at 8:00 a.m. Then there were animals rescues with animals ready to be adopted.
There were firetrucks for kids to climb on and cars to see in a car show. It was all free. if you missed it,don't worry,it will be there next year.http://bensalemtwp.org/
