Every Superbowl, they are the stars. Never mind the overpaid athletes that are on tv, it's the Budweiser Clydesdale horses that are the true stars. Today, those horses made an appearance in Philadelphia , where they drew thousands.
The animals were staged off Rhawn street and then were walked with a police escort though neighborhood streets, where those folks that were lucky enough to see them won't soon forget. . Just before 6:00 p.m. they turned off of Sheffield Street and onto the main drag, stopping at Cottman Beverage. where they stocked upon some beer.
A huge crowd gathered and southbound traffic was stopped. People wanted to take photos and see the horses, as they made their way down Frankford Ave. They stopped at every bar, where the bar owner was given a free case of beer. It ended two hours later at Mayfair Beverage.
As the crowd thickened. The bud crews worked hard to try to keep people away from the horses. Cars that were going north stopped as the drivers whipped out cellphones to take photos. Dogs that were in peoples cars went bezerk . traffic stopped as people gazed at what was going on.
The Clydesdales are always a hit during the Superbowl. However , there is one commercial starring them that was only aired once. It took all day to shoot and the horses were not cooperative. You can see it here .
It aired only once in tribute for 9-11 victims. The company did not want to exploit the tragedy and profit from it.
