The Philadelphia Tattoo Arts Convention was held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center this past weekend. Thousands showed up. Security was ramped up, to insure there were no problems. Everyone that entered was searched. Lots of people have tattoos today. Some have one in an area not displayed to the public. Others are festooned with more ink and piercings, that drastically alter their appearance. Others are just curious. People from all three of those groups were at the convention.
There were supplies for tattoo artists , and then there were dozens of people who were offering their services. from across the country ,to down the block, it gave people the opportunity to see what the event was all about. Some stood in line and wanted art from a particular artist.
There were seminars as well. From basic safety classes for tattoo artists, to classes on machine maintenance. Then there was the merchandise. From t shirts and hoodies to prints from different artists. Prices ranged for a few dollars on up.
Some people like to look like freaks and get piercings. Not just one, but major amounts that will disfigure their appearance. That was available as well.
The convention is scheduled to return in 2014. http://www.villanarts.com is the official site, where you can get information on when the next convention will be held.
