On Wednesday night the National Football League released the schedule for the 2014 season. The announcement is always an exciting time as fans instantly go into prediction mode trying to find ways to justify their team making the playoffs. Here is a look at the New York Jets schedule with some thoughts on the opponents. I will save my predictions for the preseason as I want to see what John Idzik does in the draft and the remainder of free agency before making my educated guess.

11/23 Sunday at Buffalo 1:00 p.m.* -- An opponent that the Jets will have to beat.
12/1 Monday Miami 8:30 p.m. -- Could be an important game for playoff tiebreakers.
12/7 Sunday at Minnesota 1:00 p.m.* -- Who will be quarterbacking the Vikings?
12/14 Sunday at Tennessee 4:05 p.m.* -- A place/team of horrors for the Jets recently.
12/21 Sunday New England 1:00 p.m.* -- Welcome back Revis, again.
12/28 Sunday at Miami 1:00 p.m.* -- A huge division match-up. Playoffs on the line?
The first 8 games of the season will dictate a lot for the New York Jets as they play some outstanding opponents. The Packers, Bears, and Lions are quality teams while the Broncos and Patriots could be tops in the AFC. Of course the NFL did the Jets no favors playing New England on a short week after Denver. As for the stretch run 4 out of the 6 games are on the road. If Gang Green wants to make a bid at a playoff spot their road woes must be addressed.
