When I am Old
Paul said when I was a child I spoke as a child when I grew up I put away childish things, Have you put up your toys yet?
I have noticed lately much to my disapproval I am no longer one of the youngster in the church. I remember it was not too long ago when I was one of the young men in the church that new everything, a better way, and how everything should be done. I can truly say I was a handful. I want to thank God for all the seasoned ministers that had the opportunity to help in the breaking of this young Preacher and showing me I had a lot to learn.
I have noticed on the Face Book pages I frequent there are a lot of young preachers out there in the shape I was in. Their way is the right way, we are all wrong, and we all just have lack of knowledge. These young men are fresh out of college or fresh in ministry and they know it all. This is for you.
Young ministers; one day you will wake up and realize that we older ministers know a little about service for God. Paul spent a lot of time training young men for the ministry and always instructed them to show reverence to older ministers. The instruction in Gods word teaches the younger to respect the older. I know where you are coming from, each generation thinks they have the way or plan, let me assure you one day you will have the opportunity to implement your plan, but let me say by the time it come you will have learned that the way you have may not be right. That most thing takes a more seasoned approach. I was given some advice one day and let me pass it on to you. (People come to church by choice) they do not have to come no matter how wrong you may think they are for having this feeling they do not have to come, there is more than one church in every town, city, and state. If you want your church to succeed you most learn the people side of ministry, no one can be forced to do anything. Study Jesus he never forced anything on no one and still does not today. Serving takes love, and love takes time to develop and to grow, so do not be in such a hurry to make changes let time fashion you for the servant God would have you to be and learn from the older men around you.
Learn from an older minister as I have learned to learn from them myself, they do have something to offer to the church so take time to listen.
Love in Christ
