Why?
A question that we ask from a very early age, we learn to ask this question without being taught. Have you notices with your children when you tell them to do something the first thing they might say is why.
Why is a phrase within itself? Why did this happen, why are we going there, why did he do that, or made why did they have to die? We have a desire to know the reason why.
When serving God many times we will question God and do not even realize we have. God may instruct us to do something, go somewhere, or help someone and the first thing we say many times is why? We have developed into a people who want to know why. It is hard to do something when we do not understand the reasoning of the task. This come natural it is not developed it is a part of our human nature, we desire to know why.
For myself growing up I had a natural desire to want to know why things happened, how thing worked, and why I would have to perform certain task. I remember many times asking why and we all have heard the phrase (because I told you so). As adults we have all used the same phrase when dealing with our children. No other reason than I told you to do it and that what I want you to do.
God works the same way, many times he will tell us or instruct us in a certain way and the first thing out of our mouth is why. We can look back in God’s word and many times see were different people asking why? This is when God might answer with a reason, yet many times he replies in the way we would with our children, (because I told you so).
Serving God with blind faith is a hard lesson to learn, and we find serving God requires us to practice blind faith. We have to learn to serve by doing task without knowing why. God has given us a promise in Romans that all things work to our good, yet many times we will say why.
When we can come to the point of serving God without question, we are becoming mature dependable children of God. We are becoming an instrument that can be used in service for God to accomplish great mission on Gods behalf.
We need to learn to be like Samuel when God say, or tells us to do something we need to answer here am I Lord, what would you have me to do. Take over the next few days and look at you self and see how many times you ask (WHY).
Love in Christ
