"As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country" (Proverbs 25:25). Cold waters do relieve you of thirst. It is refreshing to get a glass of cold ice water on a hot summer afternoon day. The Word of God is liken to cold waters because it refreshes and replenishes the thirsty soul of a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, who thirsts for the things of God. Good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ restores a lost soul when he or she receives by faith the Lord Jesus Christ as personal Saviour (Ephesians 2 :8-9).
The King James Bible is a living water that sanctifies and cleanses the believer with the washing of the water by the Word (Ephesians 5:26). Our God is an awesome God. He knew we needed water to sustain physical life. He also gave us water (Word of God) for our spiritual life.
There is a tremendous amount of water on the earth, but almost all of it is in the ocean. The oceans cover about 70 % of tha earth's surface. But the ocean water is too salty to be used for drinking, agriculture, or industry. But God gave us the hydrologic cycle after the Flood, that distils the ocean water vapor during evaporation and gives us precipitation in the form of rain, snow, and sleet, that falls to earth as sweet unsalty water (Job 36: 26-28).
Believers in the Lord Jesus Christ need to beware of false teachers who do not use the Word of God (KJV) to teach but use man's doctrine, which teaches heresies and denies the Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 2:1). These false teachers are "wells without water" meaning that they are devoid of the Word of God (2 Peter 2:17-19).
When you are truly saved, God gives you a thirst for the Word of God. The Holy Spirit that dwells within the believer, will guide you and teach you into all truth (John 16:13). The Holy Spirit will satisfy your thirst for the things of God. "For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, But the Spirit of God. Now we received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth: comparing spiritual things with spiritual" (I Corinthians 2 : 11-13) (KJV).
