Oh yes, those sainted moteliers Saint Motel are at it again! This time they've teamed up with a host of top hardworking LA indie talents, visual artists and professionals to throw the party of a lifetime in aid of LA Childrens Hospital, funding further research into childhood diabetes with another fancy dress monster gig... No, it's not a zombie prom dress up this time, but it will be another incredible event as everyone will be dressing up to re-live their own lives in music video for a monster extravaganza of cinematic dance rock and audio visual splendour!
Think about all those crazy LA indie and mainstream music video characters who have rolled across your MTV and YouTube videos, screens, TV's and eyeballs over the past few decades and you'll soon realise that there's a mountain of ecclectic and eccentric inspirational music video characters who you can not only dress yourself up as BUT utterly rock out as at the dance rock gig and party event of the year takes off!
Brand new home grown LA music video company HALT (formed by gifted LA filmaker/director and producer Aliethia D'Angelo and InTraffik's equaly gifted Siria Contreras) naturally teamed up with LA's own top indie music video creators and top live band Saint Motel to put on their first combined ultimate celebration of LA music video culture at Echo Parks ReForm Accademy on October 14th . So not only will people be treated to one of the very best audio visual indie live bands in the world but there will also be a host of special audio visual screens and effects to highlight the madcap visuals of not just Saint Motel but also former Red Arrow Messenger Jesse Nolan's new band Caught A Ghost as well as the new up and coming post punk shoeglaze 'shark fettish' wild childs of Raw Geronimo. There will even be a guest VJ spinning some of the most memorable LA music video's of the last few decades to help recapture that 'lifetime of iconic LA music video' feel too .
Another incredible talent on hand will be the city''s own 'artist to the music and movie stars', Xany Rudoff, who turns iconic album covers and sleeves into even more iconic styled works of art using traditional religious iconography, pigmentation and gold leaf techniques. Xany will be displaying some amazing works of art as the night carries on and she'll also be holding a live silent auction (including one of her very own incredible pieces) in aid of vital new research into childhood diabetes at the LA Childrens Hospital (...so don't be surprised if Johnny Depp turns up and tries to buy up all the rest of her works too ;-) )
The over 21's only night kicks off at the ReForm Accademy on Glendale Boulevard at 8pm and promises to be one of the most memorable events of LA music history ever... which just leaves me to decide wether to go as one of the elephants from Michael Jackson's Earth video or the white horse or hot pants wearing soldier from Ellie Goulding's Guns n Horses' video (shot in griffith park last year)?...although I could just scrap the costume alltogether, keep the bed straps on and just ask the assylum nurses to wheel me down in the bed as I am so I can go as the guy from Saint Motels 'Do Everything Now' video instead!
Tickets are $20 with an open bar from One Coconut with a $3 raffle filled with some amazing ReForm and Pop Beauty goodies...and there'll no doubt be plenty of extra Saint Motel prizes and competitions yet to be announced, so make sure you get your most memorable LA music costumes ready now!
