'Thoroughly Modern Millie' to take the stage next at the Paper Mill Playhouse

“Thoroughly Modern Millie” will be the next show that the Paper Mill Playhouse presents from April 10 through May 5, 2013. The book for the show is by Richard Morris & Dick Scanlan, new music by Jeanine Tesori and new lyrics by Dick Scanlan.

“Thoroughly Modern Millie” was the winner of the 2002 Drama Desk and Tony Award for Best Musical. It takes place in the Roaring Twenties and features lively music. The story involves young Millie Dillmount as she arrives in New York City which at the time was a place filled with “frisky” flappers, dashing leading men, and a dragon lady of a villainess. Feature hit songs include “Gimme Gimme” and “Not for the Life of Me.’

The cast will feature Ashley Kate Adams (Miss Dorothy Brown), Brenda Braxton (Muzzy Van Hossmere), Billy Bustamante (Bun Foo), Jeff Kready (Jimmy Smith), Burke Moses (Mr. Trevor Graydon), Lenora Nemetz (Mrs. Meers), James Seol (Ching Ho), Jessica Sheridan (Miss Flannery) and Laurie Veldheer (Millie Dillmount).

“Thoroughly Modern Millie” will be directed by Paper Mill Playhouse Producing Artistic Director Mark S. Hoebee with choreography by Denis Jones. About this show, Mr. Hoebee said it “is the perfect musical for the entire family. Audiences will relive the roaring 1920s in this Tony Award®-winning musical featuring jazz, thunderous tap dancing, frisky flappers and dashing leading men.”

“Thoroughly Modern Millie” will be performed eight times a week, Wednesday through Sunday. Performance Schedule: Wednesday at 7:30pm, Thursday at 1:30pm and 7:30pm, Friday at 8:00pm, Saturday at 1:30pm and 8:00pm and Sunday at 1:30pm and 7:00pm. Single tickets are on sale now and range from $26 to $97.
