According to Claiborne Farm spokesperson Bernie Sams, the multiple graded stakes winner Data Link has been retired. He will be standing at stud for Claiborne starting with the 2014

Sams said,

We are pleased to have Data Link at Claiborne. He was a very good, very consistent racehorse. He has an attractive pedigree, and it has no Mr. Prospector until the fifth generation. I think he will be a good outcross for a lot of breeders.

Stuart S. Janney III’s homebred Data Link was foaled and raised at Claiborne Farm. He is by War Front out of Database by Known Fact. His dam Database is also a homebred and stakes winner herself, and is the full sister of Vespers. Data Link’s sire, War Front, currently ranks fifth of the leading sires.

Trained by Claude R. "Shug" McGaughey III, Data Link ran a fine campaign in 2012. He numbers among his wins the Grade I Maker’s 46 Mile Stakes at Keeneland and the Grade II Citation Handicap at Hollywood winning by 2-1/4 lengths. He set a course record in the Grade II 1-1/8 mile Monmouth Stakes. In 2013 he won his first race in the Grade III Canadian Turf Stakes, taking second in the Maker’s 46 Mile Stakes.

Data Link goes into retirement with eight victories, two places and one show. He earned a total of $831,335 during his racing career.

Claiborne has not yet announced Data Link’s stud fee.
