On Nov. 1 Disneyland Park debuted a new Tomorrowland exhibit in Innoventions. "Thor: Treasures of Asgard" experience brings some of the Marvel universe to Disney guests who visit the Anaheim, Calif. theme park.
"Thor: Treasures of Asgard" allows Disney guests to experience Thor's world, seeing artifacts and places made familiar through the Marvel films. Thanks to Dr. Jane Foster – a Marvel character who “partnered” with Disney, as explained in the exhibit’s set-up – guests can visit the Throne Room of Odin and Thor himself.
After crossing the Bifrost, that cosmic bridge between Midgard (Earth) and Asgard, will meet Thor, the Mighty Avenger. The experience includes a short who will pose for photos. Disney PhotoPass Photographers are available to capture the experience and guests may bring their own cameras.
While waiting to meet Thor, Disney guests can check out a number of props from the films. As MiceChat’s photo coverage of the experience reveals, on display are Loki's horned helm, dagger and manacles; the weaopns used by the Warriors Three and Heimdal; swords and shields wielded by Odin's soldiers, the Einherja; a Dark Elf mask and dagger; and the Book of Yggdrasil.
"Thor: Treasures of Asgard" opens at Disneyland Park just a week before “Thor: The Dark World” opens at movie theaters nationwide on Nov. 8. While Disney has not announced a firm closing date, the "Thor" experience will remain open at Disneyland Park at least through the holiday season and into January 2014. It will be open to guests approximately six hours a day.
Also worth noting: The Thor character appears at Disneyland Park and not Chris Hemsworth, the actor who portrays him in the Marvel movies. For more Marvel fun, the “Iron Man Tech” experience is also open at Innoventions.
