Colton Thomson struck out 11 batters as the New Mexico baseball team rolled to an 8-2 victory over visiting Jacksonville State on Saturday afternoon.
The junior lefty allowed just two runs, one earned, in 6.2 innings. Thomson (3-4) gave up five hits and did not walk a batter.
As for the UNM lineup, 10 different Lobos had one hit, with only Andre Vigil (2-for-2) having multiple hits.
Sam Haggerty's two-run single in the second inning highlighted a four-run outburst that put UNM (22-10-1) ahead for good.
The Lobos scored four more runs in the seventh inning, including solo home runs by Chase Harris and Ryan Padilla.
Zachary Fowler (4-2) took the loss for Jacksonville State (18-12), allowing four runs in six innings.
The Lobos will attempt to sweep the three-game series from the Gamecocks on Sunday at 1 p.m.
