According to the International Ski Federation website, Marielle Thompson of Vancouver, British Columbia has won a World Cup women's ski cross race in Val Thorens, France on Friday.

With the victory, Thompson improved her lead in the World Cup standings to 48 points over Katrin Mueller of Switzerland, who finished in second place behind Thompson Friday. Ophelie David of France finished in third place.

A Canadian also medalled in the men's ski cross World Cup in Val Thorens, France on Friday as David Duncan of London, Ontario finished third behind winner John Teller of the United States and Victor Oehling Norberg of Sweden.
