Thompson Square reveals they almost gave up on making music

NASHVILLE, Tenn., March 15, 2013 - Country duo Thompson Square hit the big time in 2010 with their No. 1 smash "Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not," off their self-titled platinum debut album. Since then, they've followed up their instant success with several other Top 20 hits, including "I Got You," "Glass" and "If I Didn't Have You." However, Keifer and Shawna Thompson recently revealed that they almost gave up on making music a few years back.

The charming pair says they had one last gig lined up before calling it quits, and fortunately for them (and their hardcore fans), that performance lead to a record deal with Stoney Creek Records. They were then rapidly catapulted into the spotlight, even earning a spot as an opening act on Jason Aldean's tour. “Going from that to having the opportunity to be on tour with (Jason) Aldean,” Keifer tells Taste of Country, “and then going on with Lady A for an entire year and now Luke Bryan, are you kidding me?”

Well, their hard work was not in vain. With a platinum album and Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association awards ( both for "Vocal Group of the Year") under their belts, the duo doesn't plan on slowing down any time soon. In fact, they will be releasing their highly anticipated sophomore effort, Just Feels Good, on March 26. Boasting 13 songs, Keifer and Shawna enjoy five co-writing credits on the collection which is best described as "fun, upbeat."

"The songs on the album are autobiographical and tell the story of our journey over the last few years – an incredible journey that I am still trying to wrap my head around," Keifer says.
