On Monday, Thomas Lennon, best known as the co-creator and star of “Reno 911” was tapped to costar in a comedy pilot for NBC.
The project, which remains officially untitled, but is tentatively being called “Happiness”, stars “Will & Grace’s” Sean Hayes as a man figuring out how to parent his 14-year-old daughter, who just moved in with him, while juggling a temperamental boss at work.
Lennon will play the boss, Max, who is described as “blunt and gruff and seemingly fine with not being liked.” Other previously announced cast members include Echo Kellum and Linda Lavin. The pilot was written by Victor Fresco and James Burrows has signed on as director. The project is produced by Universal Television and Hazy Mills.
In addition to “Reno 911”, Lennon’s past TV experience includes “How I Met Your Mother,” “Don’t Trust the B--- in Apartment 23” and “Friends.” He has also appeared in several films, including “Bad Teacher,” “The Dark Knight Rises” and “I Love You Man.”
