Thomas Kretschmann will star in Marvel's 'Avengers: Age of Ultron'

Thomas Kretschmann signs on to play a villain in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kretschmann will play Baron Wolfgang von Strucker, an antagonist for both Captain America and Nick Fury, played by Chris Evans and Samuel L. Jackson respectively.

Baron Wolfgang von Strucker is a former Nazi officer, is one of the leaders of HYDRA and an enemy of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Also playing a villain in the Avengers sequel is James Spader who signed on for the legendary role of Ultron last August.

Kretschmann joins the Marvel universe alongside newcomers Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen who are set to play brother/sister duo Pietro and Wanda Maximoff, also known as Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch.

Kretschmann currently stars in NBC’s Dracula as Abraham van Helsing. His film credits include King Kong (2005), Wanted (2008), and can next be see in Russian war movie Stalingrad out this February.

Age of Ultron reunites Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Chris Hemsworth, as the Avengers, as well as Samuel L. Jackson as their leader Nick Fury.

Joss Whedon returns as writer and director.
