Thomas Gibson, star of "Criminal Minds" and "Dharma & Greg", was arrested for suspicion of drunk driving this morning according to TMZ on Jan. 6. Police officers state that the actor was in downtown Los Angeles driving around about 1a.m. and that he tried to drive through a part of town that had been barricaded off for a half marathon. After police stopped him and advised him that he couldn't drive though that area, the 50-year-old continued on anyway.
The marathon had already gone through that area, but it was still blocked off at the time Gibson attempted to go through. TMZ's sources indicate that the "Criminal Minds" star was eventually stopped by police and they noticed the strong smell of alcohol. When asked to take a breathalyzer test, he refused. Gibson was then arrested and taken into custody at 1:37 a.m.
The celebrity's bail was set at $15,000 and at the time of this writing, he was still in custody. Thomas Gibson is best known for being on CBS's "Criminal Minds" as Aaron Hotchner, on ABC's "Dharma & Greg" as Greg Montgomery and on CBS's "Chicago Hope" as Daniel Nyland. The father-of-three lives with his wife of 19 years and three children in Texas.
