Thomas Gibson and Josh Brolin the latest celebs nabbed for alcohol (Video)

Actors Thomas Gibson and Josh Brolin are the latest Hollywood stars to face the long arm of the law over alcohol charges. The two were arrested in separate incidents recently, but only Gibson may face criminal charges. Josh Brolin, 44, was arrested for public intoxication in Santa Monica on New Year’s day. Thomas Gibson, 50, was taken into custody under suspicion of DUI in Los Angeles yesterday, according to E! News.

Josh Brolin, whose movie “Gangster Squad” opens Friday, was picked up for being heavily intoxicated on a Santa Monica sidewalk on Jan. 1. He was held for about six hours until he had sobered up, according to USA Today.

Santa Monica Police Lt. Darrell Lowe said the actor was not cited for the incident, meaning he probably won't have to appear in court.

Thomas Gibson, star of “Criminal Minds” and “Dharma & Greg”, wasn’t as fortunate. He was apparently behind the wheel of his car when arrested. The actor proceeded through a barricade in downtown Los Angeles that was set to keep cars off the course of an overnight half-marathon.

When police initially stopped Gibson for trying to drive through the closed area, they allegedly smelled alcohol on his breath, and took him into custody after he reportedly refused to take a Breathalyzer test.

Gibson made a $15,000 bail and was released at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

As Josh Brolin’s arrest news broke, ET caught up with his wife Diane Lane at the Palm Springs International Film Festival on Saturday, where she appeared without Brolin. Actress Lane appeared “cheerful and relaxed”.

Lane was there with her “Nights of Rodanthe” co-star Richard Gere to present him with the Chairman’s Award. When asked about her husband’s absence, Gere interjected, “[Brolin] is actually with my wife [actress Carey Lowell] tonight, so everything's fine”.

“We have an arrangement”, Lane joked. “It's all good”. A rep for Thomas Gibson had no comment.
