I wrote an article last year after I saw Thom Carthcart aka Algebro at Phyllis Musical Inn. I searched the internet when I got home and found nothing about him. No MySpace, no personal page, and the only hit on the name was some new age life coach that obviously wasn't him! I only knew his name because he had written it down for me and I still thought I had it wrong. I wrote about him anyway and promised to find him again.
Well, he found me. In my mailbox a few days ago, arrived his new CD, The Algebro Album, along with an announcement of a record release show July 31st at Martyrs where he'll play with a full band.. The CD is available at CDBaby.com.
Thom is a gifted lyricist and performer. He's entirely at ease with and in command of his songs at once. He has a very pleasing, squeaky sweet singing voice that gently lulls you with his biting wit. The new CD starts out with a beautiful, haunting song, The Strangest Girl I've Ever Known. Go to CDBaby.com and have a listen, you'll get about 10 seconds and you will want more! Another song that I like very much is The Lion and The Colorado which you can hear all the way through at Thom's MySpace.
