Welcome to the lovely month of October where our televisions will be filled with just as many goodies as our candy bowl. Well I always taken it upon myself to let my friends know what movies are playing and usually the main channels I focus on are AMC’s Fearfest, Syfy’s 31 Days of Halloween. ABC Family’s 13 Nights of Halloween and Chiller TV. There are tons of great movies to see this month so lets look at what all the channels have to offer.
AMC’s Fearfest
One of the mainstays of the Halloween season is the Fearfest lineup that is on AMC. For the past decade AMC have given us 2 weeks of great horror classics with a few made for TV cult movies sprinkled in (what you aren’t a fan of Pinata Survival Island?) Fearfest runs from October 14th - 31st. The full schedule can be found here.
The highlights for this year are the Friday the 13th and Halloween marathons, Slither, Candyman Farewell to the Flesh, Cry Wolf and Stephen King’s Cujo. Also of note is the showing of the Child’s Play franchise and Aliens movies. I’m very excited to see classics like The Beast Must Die on this years schedule and finally the best of The Scary Movies films, Scary Movie 2 is also being shown. Should be another great year for Fearfest.

Syfy 31 Days of Halloween
Syfy has already started their 31 days of Halloween but see their full schedule is here. Next Saturday you can see their premiere of the less than stellar remake of Fright Night starring Colin Farrell. Other highlights are Blade, Dawn of The Dead, The Ninth Gate and Indiana Jones: Temple of The Doom. Don’t forget all the awesome original SyFy shows like Scare Factor and the very popular Ghost Hunters series.
ABC Family’s 13 Nights of Halloween
As a father of a 5 year old it’s important to me that I share my favorite holiday with my son. ABC Family has always given quality programming that the entire family can enjoy and I find myself watching some of their Halloween shows when he isn’t around. Guess its just the kid in me! Well this year we are given an early treat as ABC is premiering Pixar’s Toy Story of Terror. Our favorite Toy Story characters return for a special holiday movie which airs the first night on Saturday October 19th. 13 Nights of Halloween runs from October 19th - October 31st. The full schedule can be found here. Movies of note on their programming are Beetlejuice, The Goonies, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and of course The Addams Family films. Don’t forget they are also premiering The Others starring Nicole Kidman on the final night. So grab the kiddies and enjoy.

Chiller TV
Chiller TV is all horror all the time but they do set aside a few new things to see in the Halloween season. One of the highlights is the premiere of The American Scream which is a documentary that tore through the festival circuits last year. It follows a few families obsessed with Halloween and go all out for decorations. The feature film of the month is Beneath but also of note are the films Dead Souls (which I actually liked) along with Real Fear: The Truth Behind the Movies. To see the full lineup of shows and movies on Chiller visit their website here.
Should be a great Halloween month for movies on television so enjoy all the programing!
