This year's Logan Square Preservation House and Garden Walk takes place Saturday, September 12, from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., largely on one of the Best blocks in Logan Square.
This is not your typical Logan Square block with the number of frame houses, the colors and turrets and (relatively) expansive lawns. This part of the neighborhood can be traced to Kimbell (as in the incorrectly spelled Kimball Avenue) Farm, one of the original homesteads in what was then known as Jefferson Township (maybe you've seen that name on your property tax bill).
Whether you come out to introduce friends and family to the neighborhood, to explore the history and architecture, or to peak inside others' homes (sneak peak left), be sure to start no later than 2:30 p.m., so that you have a chance to see everything.
Plan to make a day of it though, stopping for lunch at the newish Café Bella (3311 W. Fullerton), or the unique, albeit tiny, cultural treat of El Rinconcito Cubano (3238 W. Fullerton), or dinner at Fonda del Mar (3749 W. Fullerton), where the patio remains open for your relaxation and pleasure.
