This wine pairing adds energy

The next time you think of munching on an energy bar think about having it with a glass of wine.

Idaho-based Kate’s “Real Food” is the top tier selection for quality and great natural taste. Her story is real:

Kate Schade was a skier in Jackson Hole who didn’t want to stop to eat during the day. Although she needed the energy, the challenging runs were too much fun to give up for lunch. She came up with the idea of creating wholesome ingredients from her kitchen cabinet into bars and sharing them with friends in the tram line. Word spread over the mountain that the magic bars were delicious and sustained energy.

Her goal is to grow and support outdoor play and sustainable organic farming. The bars are available nationwide at health and natural food stores and sports shops.

The line includes five selections. Each is yearning to share an afternoon or after dinner with a glass of wine. Here are three ideas for indoor fun:

“Stash Bar” is a five-star combination of peanut butter, dark chocolate and flax seeds. Pour a glass of medium-bodied merlot with flavors of sweet plum and mocha.

A pinot noir, brimming with dark cherry and raspberry, can be a cozy compliment to “Grizzly Bar”, a decadent peanut butter, dark chocolate trail mix powerhouse.

Try “Tram Bar’, a dynamic combination of peanut butter, milk chocolate and oats, with a syrah that boasts bright red fruit and mocha on the finish.
