Drop-In Moving Image Studio at the Museum of the Moving Image: Feb. 23 from 12-5 p.m.
Description: With the assistance of Museum educators, kids get to engage in hands-on creative projects including flipbooks, thaumotropes (hand-drawn optical toys), stop-motion imaging, computer animation, and video games. Studio visitors will also get to observe how projectors, film strips, video tapes, video game consoles, and other moving-image technologies function.

Art for Families: Shape to form 2D and 3D at the Noguchi Museum: Feb. 23 at 10:30 a.m.
Description: Visiting families are welcome to explore the galleries and then make art in the Education Room. Educators will be available to discuss gallery connections, introduce materials, and assist with art making. Art materials included.

4 Kids' Acting Classes at The Secret Theatre: Feb. 23-March 16 at 10-11 a.m.
Description: These classes, which will be running for four weekends, will teach kids about diction, poise and creativity. Kids will also get to learn about monologues, scene work, improv, and character development.

Weekly Food Waste Drop-Off at Queens Library: Feb. 23
Description: Frozen food scraps, including fruit and vegetable pieces, coffee grounds with paper filters, tea bags, egg and nut shells, bread and pasta with no toppings, can be dropped off at a weekly food waste drop off site at select Queens Library locations. They'll then be turned into nutrient-rich compost by the Western Queens Compost Initiative. Please do not bring any meat, dairy, bones, or oily foods please!

Description: Find out how the laws of physics function upon the radical maneuvers behind various action sports including gravity, force, velocity, and balance. Program runs until April 22 and children under age 18 must be accompanied by adult.

Cooking with Pachanga Patterson Chefs: Feb. 23 from 4-5:30 p.m.
Description: Allergic to Salad is holding a special cooking class for kids. Though the class is generally free, a suggested donation is requested to help pay for supplies, teacher, and food (actual cost is about $30/student in class).

Fundraiser and Concert for the Wheeler Family: Feb. 23 from 5 to 9 p.m.
Description: Special fundraiser and concert being held in Sunnyside to support the Wheeler Family, who lost their son at the Sandy Hook Tragedy in Connecticut. There'll be music and food, as well as special activities for kids and a monster raffle. All proceeds from the event will go to the family.

Price: $15 for food and drink separately or $25 for combo food and drink; $5 for kids over 6 years/kids under 6 are free.
