It’s another weekend full of entertaining activities across the Brazos Valley. The weather looks like it will cooperate for outdoor events—if you can take the heat. Otherwise, choose one that will keep you cool and comfy indoors. Either opportunity is available this weekend, and here are a few options. Have fun!

Legally Blonde: The Musical – On Fridays through Sundays this weekend (Aug. 8-10) and next (Aug. 15-17), The Theatre Company of Bryan-College Station, Texas, will be performing Legally Blond: The Musical. Times are 7:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Buy tickets online through The Theatre Company website or in person at the Arts Council of the Brazos Valley.

Wade Andrew Smith and Driftwood – On Friday night (Aug. 8), The Western Club Bar & Grill in Navasota, Texas, brings Wade Smith and the Driftwood Band to the area. The Western Club offers a large dancefloor, food menu, and multiple service bars.

Stagecoach Days at Fanthorp Inn – On second Saturdays during the summer, Fanthorp Inn State Historic Site in Anderson, Texas, offers folks the chance to experience a slice of the Old West. This Saturday (Aug. 9) the Stagecoach Days program introduces The Whipster. Stagecoach drivers were called Whipsters, and they carried high regard in the old west. Whipster presentations and stagecoach rides run from 11:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m.

Navasota Blues Festival – The quintessential Texas blues fest! The Navasota Blues Festival honoring blues great Mance Lipscomb is held Friday and Saturday (Aug. 8-9) at Grimes County Fairgrounds Expo Center in Navasota, Texas. Check out schedules, performers, and prices on the Blues Fest Facebook page or website.

Lavender & Wine Fest – The annual Lavender & Wine Fest is held in several locations near Chappell Hill, Texas. From 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 9), see everything lavender—from soaps to teas to lavender plants in the field. The Lavender Feast Dinner, a multicourse meal, will be served that evening at the Funky Art Cafe in downtown Brenham, Texas. Reservations are required for the feast, $85.

Bill Stacy at Edge General Store – Homestyle music is served up with homestyle cooking at Edge General Store in Edge, Texas. This weekend, musician Bill Stacy will play on Saturday night (Aug. 9). The music starts early—about 6:00 p.m.—so don’t be late!

Jake Hooker and the Outsiders – Saturday night (Aug. 9), The Western Club Bar & Grill in Navasota, Texas, will feature a fabulous two-stepping band in the form of Jake Hooker and the Outsiders. The Western Club offers a large dancefloor, food menu, and multiple service bars.
