This Weekend: Stay active January 18 - 21

It’s a long weekend, folks. Monday is a federal holiday, celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., as well as Inauguration Day. Also happening this weekend is the National Day of Service. Whether you’re interested in helping others, or just want to have some winter fun, there are plenty of ways to stay active this weekend. Saturday, January 19

Skiing and tubing at Bogus Basin continues

National Day of Service In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the U.S. celebrates the National Day of Service this Saturday. There are several events taking place throughout the Treasure Valley. Among the community organizations you can help are Ronald McDonald House, Boise Rescue Mission, City Light, Corpus Christi House, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Idaho Youth Ranch, and several others. Caldwell Indoor Mini Triathlon Taking place at the Caldwell Family YMCA, this 4th annual event features 8 laps in the pool, cycling 6 miles on an indoor bike, and then running 2 miles on a treadmill. For more information, click on this link.

Freezeout Challenge If you’re up for a little drive, head over to Emmett for a true test of fitness, racing up Freezeout Hill in the cold. This 12K loop course begins and ends at the Gem County Fairgrounds. There’s also a short course, which is just under 4 miles. For more information, click on this link.

Sunday, January 20

Skiing and tubing at Bogus Basin continues

Learn to Skate Open House at Idaho IceWorld This event features an orientation, exhibition, a demonstration of skate fitting and lacing, a short lesson, Q & A session, public skating time and prizes.
