Like peanut butter and jelly, indie music and retro video games are a sweet combination that you can spend an entire weekend enjoying. Come February 8-10 Rockage 2.0 will feature music, video games, food trucks, and panels for a well-packed weekend at the San Jose Woman's Club.
Rockage 2.0 celebrates indie music and video gaming and encourages people to participate in both with over 25 bands and DJs performing throughout the weekend as well as over 100 video games and consoles set on free play. Some of the musicians like the Minibosses incorporate video game themes and sound effects into their music to bring in a nostalgic feeling while producing a unique sound. Other musicians are of the nerdcore, pop, and hiphop variety.
With free video game play comes video game tournaments where players can show off their skills. Expect music themed game tournaments such as "DJ Hero" and "Guitar Hero" where players will vie for prizes.
Those interested in learning more about games, music, or other San Jose groups can check out the panels that will take place throughout the Rockage 2.0 weekend. Panels include the San Jose State Game Dev Club, Make a Scene SJ, and the Silicon Valley Roller Club Girls. Additionally, local food trucks tentatively scheduled to serve their unique cuisine to Rockage 2.0 attendees include Treatbot, House of Siam on Wheels, Tasteebytes, and Sonia's Sweet & Eats.
For only $30, people can experience the entire weekend of Rockage 2.0 or can spend $20 for a single day. Sunday is "Fun Fun Kids Day" where children 12 and under get free admission with an adult paid admission. It's a pretty fun way to spend a weekend in San Jose. A schedule of events can be read here.
