This weekend—April 6 to be precise—marks a day of whimsy and imagination at the Oakland Convention Center courtesy of this year’s Spring Kraken Con anime convention. Celebrating creativity in anime and other aspects of pop culture, Kraken Con will feature a variety of guests from hit anime & cartoons like “Adventure Time,” live programming events, and even a Kraken Con exclusive card game.

“Adventure Time” fans will definitely want to attend Kraken Con this weekend for a chance to meet voice artist Niki Yang (Lady Rainicorn and Beemo). In addition to “Adventure Time,” Ms. Yang has also voiced Candy Chiu for “Gravity Falls” and has been a storyboard artist for several hit animated TV series. Another “Adventure Time” talent is character designer Natasha Allegri. Her most well-known contribution to “Adventure Time” has been Fionna & Cake as well as the rest of the gender-swapped “Adventure Time” characters.

But Kraken Con is not limited to “Adventure Time.” Literary fans have a chance this weekend to meet the author of the “Asylum” series Madeline Roux and “Don't Turn Around” author Michelle Gagnon. Artist & illustrator Joe Weems will have some anecdotes about his work in comics and the Darkstar skateboard company. Anime and video game voice actor Patrick Seitz will likely have a lot to say in the style of his lot of voice work credits.

Kraken Con will also let anime fans get their fill this weekend of cosplay, shopping, art, and other fan aspects of the anime convention like a maid café. Online registration is still $15 until April 5 at 11:30pm. So for a fun filled day in Oakland for anime fans, Kraken Con this weekend will certainly fit the bill.

About Kraken Con:
