This weekend in Music
Atlanta Symphony will host guitarist Milos Karadaglic this weekend. The program, held at Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center in Midtown, will feature works by Tchaikovsky and Rodrigo. The Atlanta Symphony will present jazz legend Wynton Marsalis on February 9 at 8pm. The famous trumpeter will be accompanied by Jazz at Lincoln Center, and well feature old standards along with some swinging new tunes. The Michael O'Neill Singers will present a concert on February 10 at 4pm. The concert is titled Songs for All Seasons, and features the Kaleidoscope Ensemble. This weekend in Theatre
The 14th Street Playhouse will host the production The Present Day Ruth, February 8-9. This Christian play is based on the biblical characters of Ruth and Boaz. It was adapted from "Waiting with a Purpose- A Guide to Finding Your Boaz" by Anastasia Means-Dallas.The play uses dancing, singing, and humor to retell this lesser known story. The Present Day Ruth will play on the main stage at 14th Street Playhouse in Midtown, February 8 at 7:30pm and February 9 at 3:30 and 7:30pm. Tickets are $25 plus taxes and fees. Jacquay Waller and DreamCatcher Productions will present Black Man-O-Logues February 9 and 10. This show presents the stories of 9 black men, and explores how black men experience, perceive, and express love. Black Man-O-Logues will play at the 14th St.Playhouse in Midtown, February 9 at 4pm and 8pm, and February 10 at 4pm. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. The Aurora Children's Playhouse will present Butterfly Ballad/Balada de las Mariposas on February 9 at 10am. This bilingual show was originally developed for the Callaway Gardens Butterfly Center and follows Katy and Kevin caterpillar as they journey toward becoming butterflies. The Fox Theatre will host Flashdance this weekend. This pop culture phenomenon is now a hit live musical! Performances will be February 9 and 10 at 2pm and 8pm. This weekend in Dance
The Atlanta Ballet will open their production of Dracula this weekend. The production features music by Philip Feeney, choreography by Michael Pink, and live accompaniment by the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra. The show features the classic tale of seduction and surrender, so parental discretion is advised. Dracula will play at the Cobb Energy Center in Marietta through February 16.
