The word "Murasaki" in Japanese refers to the color purple and like the color they are named after their sound is dynamic, fun, engaging, joyful and filled with vibrant energy.

The Murasaki Ensemble has spent it's entire 25 year existence shattering stereotypes and inventing entirely new musical paradigms.

Their unique sound is made possible by an impressive lineup of seasoned musicians including: Shirley Kazuyo Muramoto on Koto (13 string Japanese Harp), Matt Eakle on Flutes, Jeff Massanari on Guitar, Alex Baum on Bass, and Vince Delgado on percussion.

The performance will also feature special guests Shoko Hikage, Karl Young, Carol Kazumi Takao, Michelle Kazuakimi Suwabe, Debbie Kashihiro Ohzato Brune, Brian Mitsuhiro Wong, and students of Shirley Kazuyo Muramoto.

The music of the Murasaki Ensemble is filled with melodic, harmonic and rhythmic interest. It features solid compositions, mesmerizing solos and deep grooves that excite the spirit and stir the soul.

The Murasaki Ensemble will also be performing music featured in the new upcoming documentary "Hidden Legacy: Japanese Traditional Performing Arts in the WWII Internment Camps" premiering at the end of June on public television.

The Murasaki Ensemble 25th anniversary concert represents a rare chance to hear world class musicians at the peak of their careers playing exciting music that has been polished over two decades of performances.

Light food and refreshments will be served and t-shirts given away while supplies last.
