This weekend in Music:
Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chorus present their annual holiday gift to the community with Christmas with the ASO. Started 45 years ago with legend Robert Shaw, Christmas with the ASO features the symphony, the chorus, the Gwinnett Young Singers and the Morehouse College Glee Club in an unforgettable evening of holiday music presented by over 400 singers and musicians. Performances are December 8-10, with performance times being Thursday-Saturday evenings at 8pm with an additional matinee performance on Saturday at 2pm. All performances will take place in Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta. The Atlanta Gay Mens Chorus will present their annual holiday concert Bells in Boyland December 9 and 10. This annual gift to the community will feature not only the 100 member chorus, but also the Concert Ringers handbell choir, soloist Dwight Coleman, and as is tradition, ice cream after the 2pm show on Saturday. Performances of Bells in Boyland will be Friday December 9 at 8pm, and Saturday December 10 at 2pm and 8pm. All performances will take place at St.Phillips cathedral in Buckhead. This weekend in Theatre:
ART Station opens their original holiday production of The Christmas Report on December 8. With book and lyrics by local author David Thomas, and music by Patrick Hutchinson, the breaking news is that the nightly news just got a whole lot funnier. Audiences can catch The Christmas Report Thursday through Saturday evenings at 8pm and Sunday's at 3pm December 8-23. Ticket prices are $25 for adults and $21 for students/seniors. A $1 facility fee will be added to each ticket. All performances will take place at the ART Station Theatre in Stone Mountain. Center Theatre at the MJCC will open their production of the hit musical, The Producers December 8 at the Marcus Jewish Community Center in Atlanta. The Producers presents the story of Bialystock and Bloom, as they attempt to get rich by producing Broadway's biggest flop. The Producers will run through December 18 on Thursday and Saturday evenings at 8pm, and Sunday's at 2pm, with an additional performance Sunday December 18 at 7pm. This weekend in Dance:
Atlanta Ballet will open their annual production of the Nutcracker on December 8. This fun-filled magical adventure as choreographed by John McFall will feature the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra at all performances for an evening the whole family will love. All performances will take place at the fabulous Fox Theatre in Atlanta through December 24. Running time is approximately 2 hours with a 25 minute intermission. Atlanta Dance Theatre will present their production of Babes in Toyland December 9-10 at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center in Roswell. This fun ballet performance will be a treat for the whole family! Performances are at 7:30pm on Friday and at 10, 2, and 7:30 on Saturday. Tickets are $23.50 for adults and $15.50 for students seniors.
