Tractor Supply Company, 5301 Eisenhower Parkway in Macon, is hosting Community/Adoption Day festivities at the store from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Local animal rescue groups will be on hand with adoptable pets for visitors to meet. Heavenly Bundles and Macon Purrs N Paws will be on hand. STARZ horse rescue will also be there and may bring ponies the children can ride. There will also be a cruise-in car show, food vendors, pet groomers and arts and crafts booths. You can buy edible Valentines for your 2-legged or 4-legged friends, get your pet's nails trimmed, hear tips from a professional dog trainer, or buy your dog a tutu to wear (first aid kits available in the store, for after you put that tutu on your dog!)
The store will have special sales going on all day long, too.
The public is invited to attend, and everyone is welcome to bring their own pet, provided it is under control at all times.
Donations from the car show will be distributed to the rescue groups at the event. If you'd like to donate to any rescues, they will be happy to accept food, toys, kitty litter and other supplies, or cash.
Anyone wishing to foster one of the pardoned animals instead of adopt can coordinate with one of the rescues. Since most rescues are full, they are unable to rescue animals from animal control unless they have foster homes lined up in advance.
Fosters provide shelter, love and stability for the pet until it can be sent up north for adoption, adopted here or until the foster falls so deeply in love with the pet they can't bear to let it go. The rescues provide food, vet care and medications, and smile knowingly when a foster "fails" -- keeps the pet forever.
