This weekend in Lake George: February 3-5

Outdoor Fun:

  • The 51st Lake George Winter Carnival is here!

This nationally recognized event features races, cook-offs, parades, bonfires, fireworks, golfing (yes, golfing), hot air balloons, and more. Opening Ceremonies take place at noon on Saturday in Shepard Park. The Carnival runs each weekend through February.

The mild winter has pushed some events off the lake and onto the lake shore. Kevin Geraghty, Warren County Board of Supervisors member, says the Carnival Committee plans to move some events to the Charles R. Wood Park grounds.

Wood Park, the former Gaslight Village property, is on Westbrook Road at the Southern tip of Lake George approximately two-fifths of a mile from the Carnival Headquarters on Shepard Park Beach.

Plans for relocating this weekend’s outhouse races are underway. In past years, when Mother Nature has failed to bring snow, The Lake George Village Public Works Department has trucked in the essential white stuff from snow banks built up at area businesses.
