This weekend, kid-friendly 'Rio' returns, plus 'Oculus', 'Draft Day'

This weekend, there are several new movies out in theaters that are sure to satisfy everyone, from families with the kid-friendly “Rio 2”, to sports fans with “Draft Day” and horror fanatics with the scary “Oculus”. Plus, a couple films that have been getting a lot of buzz are out in limited release. What will you be seeing? Rio 2”: This animated comedy directed by Carlos Saldanha, a sequel to 2011’s “Rio”, finds Blu (Jesse Eisenberg), his wife Jewel (Anne Hathaway), and their kids traveling to the Amazon wilderness, where they discover that they aren’t the last birds of their kind, and also meet Jewel’s family. The domestic Blu has trouble fitting in this new environment, as he goes head-to-head with Jewel’s father and one of her exes. Available for viewing in 3D. Runtime: 101 minutes. Rated G.

Draft Day”: Directed by Ivan Reitman, this sports drama follows Sonny Weaver (Kevin Costner), the general manager of the Cleveland Browns football team who considers making an unexpected sacrifice when it comes to making the first pick on draft day, potentially giving him an opportunity to rebuild his team. Runtime: 109 minutes. Rated PG-13 for brief strong language and sexual references.

Oculus”: In this horror film directed by Mike Flanagan, a young woman named Kaylie Russell (Karen Gillan) tries to prove that her brother Tim (Brenton Thwaites), newly released from prison on suspicion of murdering his parents as a child, is innocent, and that it was rather a mirror with supernatural powers that brought their family to ruin. Runtime: 105 minutes. Rated R for terror, violence, some disturbing images and brief language.
