This weekend, 'Hercules' and 'Lucy' add some punch to end of summer

This Friday’s new releases will be fun for action fans looking to close up the summer with a bang, with the Brett Ratner/Dwayne Johnson “Hercules” looking to bring on the violence and the smart thriller “Lucy” pairing science with vengeance. Dwayne Johnson is the new Hercules

Hercules”: Directed by Brett Ratner, this action movie stars Dwayne Johnson as the titular hero, who, along with his band of mercenaries, has endured a series of terrible trials. The group is enlisted by King Eurystheus (Joseph Fiennes) to train his army to defeat a warlord, but the task makes them realize just how ruthless they’ve become. Available for viewing in 3D. Runtime: 98 minutes. Rated PG-13 for epic battle sequences, violence, suggestive comments, brief strong language and partial nudity.

Lucy”: Directed by Luc Besson, this thriller follows Lucy (Scarlett Johansson), a woman whose brain evolves farther than any humans have before when she gets caught in a deal to transport a mysterious substance in her body. She uses her new skills to take revenge against those who imprisoned her. Runtime: 90 minutes. Rated R for strong violence, disturbing images, and sexuality.

And So It Goes”: Directed by Rob Reiner, this romantic comedy stars Michael Douglas as Oren Little, a selfish realtor whose son drops off a granddaughter he never knew he had on his doorstep. Not knowing what to do with her, Oren enlist the help of his neighbor Leah (Diane Keaton). Runtime: 94 minutes. Rated PG-13 for some sexual references and drug elements.
