The Gold Coast Art Fair, among the country’s top juried art festivals, is this weekend. But don’t look for it on Chicago’s Near-North Gold Coast.

The event is behind the Art Institute of Chicago in Grant Park and spreads out south across Monroe from another Chicago attraction: Millennium Park.

The fair is good because it attracts thousands of entries but only 350 artists are accepted.

Works range from art pottery and glass to fine paintings and photography. Of course, prices also range from easily-affordable $25 items to high-end $25,000. But looking and listening to the music is free. The event includes art projects for youngsters and artist demonstrations.

Yes, the Blackhawk celebration will be down in Grant Park on Friday, so just think vacation weekend in the city.

Details: The Gold Coast Art Fair is June 29-30, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at Monroe and Lake Shore Drive. For more information visit amdurproductions.com.
