This weekend: Free weekly workouts begin June 9 at Millennium Park

Kick off your weekend - literally - with a free Saturday morning workout on the Pritzker Pavilion Great Lawn at Millennium Park. Starting this Saturday, June 9 and presented every Saturday morning through September 1, the free fitness classes commence with tai chi at a character-building 7 a.m. and last 45 minutes each. Whether you're into tai chi, pilates, yoga or zumba, and regardless of your fitness or experience level, there's something offered for you at Millennium Park workouts.

Live music performances delivered by the Pritzker's acclaimed sound system accompany the yoga and pilates sessions, leading up to the Latin-inspired Zumba cardio-fest at 10a.m.

Presented by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events with generous support from none other than hometown fast food icon McDonald's, (we'll hold back on any snarky comments, since this is an awesome program they've forked out to underwrite), the free fitness series is just one more reason to go hang out at the city's treasured Millenium Park, one of this Examiner's all-time favorite places on the planet. We'll be reporting later on other awesome happenings planned for the summer, like all the phenomenal free music, culture and dance programming taking place again this year.
