This Weekend: First St Cafe features free jazz sessions
If you haven't already enjoyed the soulful sounds of Bryan Girard, no worries....
Vallejo resident Girard is back playing at First St. Cafe, bringing with him some of the best local talent from the Bay. And it's all free...
Here's what Girard told us earlier this week:
"The holiday season is over and our Sunday jazz series resumes this weekend with a terrific trio comprised of some of the best musicians in the Bay Area. I'll be playing with keyboardist, Wayne Fettig and bassist Karl Hartmann. These guys are veterans of the local jazz scene and together represent many decades of experience playing at the highest levels. This is an exciting group and I can promise you an afternoon of top-notch jazz."
We've been presenting live jazz for 2-1/2 years now and the music just keeps getting better. There's no cover charge and the music starts at 2:PM. Upstairs at the Cafe is a great place to spend a Sunday afternoon. Excellent food, beverages and friendly service complement the gorgeous bay view. Come on by and say hello--you'll probably see someone you know!"
Past Sunday sets have included guitarists Jess Massanari and Tony Corman, pianist Wayne De La Cruz, bassist Gene Perla and vocalists, Ed Reed, Jennifer Lee, Mary Jenson, Maria Marquez and Maye Cavallaro.
It doesn't get much better than that...
