This weekend, families can take advantage of a free shuttle bus service operating within Long Island City. This new service will make it easier for anyone to visit several of Western Queens' prominent cultural institutions, such as the Noguchi Museum, MOMA P.S. 1, and more. Families can also participate in a variety of other special events throughout the weekend, which are listed down below.
LIC Art Bus: May 17-Sept. 14, 2014 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Description: A new shuttle bus service has been launched from Socrates Sculpture Park, which will help connect Long Island City's various cultural institutions to each other. The bus will make stops between Socrates Sculpture Park, The Noguchi Museum, Sculpture Center, and MOMA P.S. 1 every Saturday and Sunday. Princess Particular: May 17 at 2 p.m.
Description: Through this musical, kids can watch Princess Particular go on an adventure pretending to be anything other than a princess. It stars Cari McHugh as Princess Particular, as well as Mary Lauren, Kimberly Wilpon, Lee Goffin-Bonenfant, Miranda Kahn, and more! Directed by Lena Moy-Bergen.

Drop-In Moving Image Studio: May 17 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Description: Kids can engage in various hands-on activities such as making flipbooks and thaumatropes (hand-drawn optical toys), learning about stop-motion and computer animation, as well as playing video games. Visitors can also explore the ways that various types of moving-image technologies function including projectors, film strips, video tapes, video game consoles and more.

Little Makers-Butter Up: May 18 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Description: Families with young children are invited to tinker, design, and create together. Participants will learn to use new materials, tools and processes in order to design a project that they can take home. Be sure to dress yourself and your kids in old clothing that can be splattered upon with things like paint, ink, and glue. In this particular program, kids will learn how to create homemade butter while they get to add in their own ingredients.
