Are you looking for some family-friendly activities for this weekend in the Chicago area? Then you’re in luck, as there are plenty of fun things to do the weekend of June 14 and 15, 2014, in the Windy City.

The Puerto Rican Festival and Parade is a four-day event featuring food, live music, entertainment and more. The event kicks off June 12, 2014, at 3 p.m. and is located at Division St. and California Ave. in Chicago’s Humboldt Park neighborhood. Don’t forget to make time for the parade, held on June 14 at 2 p.m. at Division St. and Western Ave. Carnival rides and arts and crafts are also planned for the festival.

Brickworld Chicago 2014 kicks off on Saturday, June 14, at 10 a.m. The annual convention lets longtime and new LEGO brick builders alike meet under one roof and display their latest creations. LEGO-related vendors will also be on hand so you can purchase a T-shirt or customized minifig. The event takes place at the Renaissance Convention Center (1551 N. Thoreau Dr., Schaumburg) and is open to the public June 14 and 15.

Ever thought of combining live theater with the Lincoln Park Zoo? With the zoo’s Kids Summer Theater program, you can. The live theater includes a 15-minute skit and an opportunity for children to participate. Performances take place at 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. on the South Lawn of the Lincoln Park Zoo (2001 N. Clark St., Chicago), and the rain location is the rooftop of Cafe at Wild Things.
