This Saturday, join in a celebration of one of the Bay’s best-known natural phenomena: fog! The Exploratorium is giving the fog its due with the Fog Festival, which takes place at noon to 5 p.m. at the Exploratorium’s Pier 15 digs.
This all-ages event is included with $25 museum admission and includes science experiments, artwork and film screenings – all dedicated to fog. In addition, artist Fujiko Nakaya will be there as visitors bid goodbye to her Fog Bridge installation, an immersive outdoor artwork slated to close Oct. 6.
On tap will be San Francisco instrumental duo EN, performing “Kiri No Oto” (The Sound of Fog). In addition, the Exploratorium’s Cinema Arts program will offer a selection of fog-themed films during the noon and 2 p.m. Saturday Cinema screenings in the museum’s Kanbar Forum.
Then at 3:30 p.m. in the Fisher Bay Observatory Gallery, filmmaker Sam Green will discuss his new film “Fog City”, which debuts at the Exploratorium Wednesday, Oct. 2.
