This weekend, 'Earth to Echo' headlines July 4th movie releases

July 4th is traditionally a weekend for big action movie blockbusters, so this year marks a change of pace with some unique selections to choose from, including comedy, horror, and the family-oriented sci-fi flick “Earth to Echo”. Spend some time at the movies with friends and family this holiday weekend with the following new movies releases, all in theaters now.

Nationwide Releases:

Earth to Echo”: Directed by Dave Green, this sci-fi adventure follows a group of kids who find a stranded alien and set off on an adventure to get him back home, while government officials pursue them. Runtime: 89 minutes. Rated PG for some action and peril, and mild language.

Tammy”: Directed by Ben Falcone, this comedy stars Melissa McCarthy as the titular character, a woman who gets fired from her job and finds out her husband is cheating on her all in one night. The only option for escape is embarking on an adventurous road trip with her eccentric grandmother (Susan Sarandon). Runtime: 96 minutes. Rated R for language including sexual references.

Deliver Us From Evil”: This horror movie directed by Scott Derrickson follows New York City police officer Ralph Sarchie (Eric Bana), whose investigation of a series of crimes leads him to partner with a priest to get to the bottom of the demonic possessions taking over people throughout the city. Runtime: 118 minutes. Rated R for bloody violence, grisly images, terror throughout, and language.
