This Weekend: Chaps at Chaffin's Barn Dinner Theatre - A Western Farce

One of this writer's favorite cultural entertainment spots is Chaffin’s Barn Dinner Theatre. Not only does The Barn offer some of the finest acting in the community theatre arena, but they also deliver some of the best buffet eats offered in Nashville. In my book, there are few places in Nashville where you get more for your money.

Playing March 20 - April 27 at Chaffin's Barn Dinner Theatre

Culture without stuffiness, art without attitude, and fine dining without the expense; that is what you get at The Barn.

The current production being presented at The Barn is “Chaps” which will be performed on Main Stage at Chaffin’s Barn Dinner Theatre Thursday through Saturday evenings March 20 through April 27, with the buffet from 6:00-7:30 p.m. and the show beginning at 8:00 p.m.

It's a hilarious romp through a live radio program featuring good ole Western music and pure old down-home - straight from Britain – fun. This is a show filled with old-fashioned music, slapstick shenanigans and old-time funny. It's a fast-paced ride through a crazy night as a BBC radio station tries to put on a Country-Western show, minus the country-western band! The characters are vivid, the scene changes smooth and timing incredibly good.

As always, The Barn greets you with warm smiles, a lot of southern hospitality and fresh chocolate chip cookies in the lobby for the taking. And per the norm, John (Chaffin) will be conducting the kitchen, while Janie (Chaffin) greets each and every guest, table by table, looking as lovely as she is genuinely glad you are there. Honestly, I can't think of a friendlier, more helpful and honestly honored that you are there place in Nashville.

If it's been years since you've been to The Barn, get off that couch and go see a show, with a gut-filling buffet included. If you've never been, you are missing one of Nashville's oldest traditions. And so you know, kids love the place, it's a chance to dress up a bit and have dinner, and entertainment, right along with the adults. And for couples, what a perfect first, or second, and fifty-fourth day! Don't miss one of Nashville's oldest entertainment venues and a chance to meet the Chaffin's and their wonderful long-playing crew of staff, actors and servers, who are waiting with a big smile just for you.

Chaps: March 20-April 27

Whoa, Brittanica! Panic at the BBC! The year is 1944, America’s favorite singing cowboy Text Riley and his troupe are late for a special broadcast at the BBC in London. Out of desperation, Mabel, their tour manager, and Miles, the frantic young producer, grab whomever they can (a snobby announcer, an amiable sound man, a passing soap opera star) slap them into costume, hand them scripts (after all, it’s radio!) and shove them in front of the studio audience. The resulting performance is one England (and YOU) will never forget.
