There's a lot going on this weekend, with two big events being "I Want Candy" with Uncle Sugar and others at Darwin's on Saturday night, and the Benefit for Carlos Capote and Family at Blind Willie's beginning at 5 PM on Sunday. But there's going on as well, so here's this weekend's rundown:
On Friday, John Sosebee is at Fat Matt's,. Eddie Shaw and the Wolf Gang visit Blind Willie's, Mudbone Turner is at Darwin's. Heather Lutrell entertains at Northside Tavern.
Saturday, I am choosing from the "I Want Candy"event at Darwin's, featuring Bill Sheffield, Frankie's Blues Mission and Uncle Sugar. Chef Aiken will be making bbq ribs, potato salad and baked beans, and there will be candy, all for the $10 cover charge!
Also on Saturday, The Blue Monkeys are at Fat Matt's, and Houserocker Johnson and the Shadows are at Blind Willie's.Frankie's Blues Mission is also scheduled for Northside Tavern, I imagine following their stint at Darwin's.
Sunday is the fundraiser for Carlos Capote at Blind Willie's, celebrating The Breeze Kings' frontman finally getting his kidney transplant! Tinsley Ellis, Francine Reed, and many great local musicians are participating, starting at 5 PM and continuing until 1 AM.
